Karolyn at the Downtown Campus of Pima CC

Karolyn Kendrick, I am so, so sad that you are no longer on this earth. You came to the Downtown Campus of Pima and work with us faculty members for the video self-paced alternative learning lab. You made videos to contribute in a wonderful way. But for me, the joy of you is that you were there answering students questions - coaching people through their problems. You were patient and clear - and creative - in your answers. I so wanted you to have the full time job. When you applied, I encouraged you. You were so perfect for the job. Then the campus president (who shall not be named or described by me here) interviewed her. She asked you what your most embarrassing moment in life was. You told me that you told her that it was none of her business. Oh my gosh, it's so true, but did you have to tell her at interview?! You also told her that you hated meetings. You didn't get the job. How I wished you'd not said those things, but rather had gotten the job, then not gone to the meetings! But how I loved your honesty! I've asked you questions about the I.D. of this plant or that. You were honest when you didn't know - but mostly you were able to give me the info. I will always think of you when I see botanical specimens that are mysteries to me. Your lack of pretense and witty, intelligent observations endeared me to you forever - and you will always be in my life and thoughts. I hurt for Peter. You two shared very special lives together. My love to you, sweet beautiful Karolyn!
