Remembering Karolyn.

Until about 5 years ago I had only heard about Roy's cousin Karolyn. Finally she and Peter came to visit us from Arizona. What wonderful friends they became. Karolyn and I became more like sisters. It was soon after, that she was found to have cancer. As often as this cancer sapped her strength, she seemed to rally, and continue with everything important to her. She and Peter made regular visits to work on their 72 acres in Fayette County, Texas. They were such a team, best friends; and you could tell that they were the light in each others' life...so devoted to each other. Roy and I would go out to visit them when they would come to work on their new home every few months. Karolyn worked so hard to restore the land back to what it should have been before it had been over grazed, and over worked. This was her dream and her joy, to replace the nuisance trees and grasses with the native trees and grasses that had been there originally. Every time we visited, I learned more about what a kind, loving, devoted and giving person she was. She loved music and dancing. She loved life and, in spite of the cancer that drained her, she was determined to live life to its fullest. She was truly a Renascence woman....one of a kind, and I will miss her terribly.
